    Theme: History of Ecuador

Close your eyes, jump to the bed and start feeling you are apart of the world. ¿How? Quite simply, just image that the high wooden header and low parts of the King size bed are taking you apart from the exterior. Further, you may enjoy reading a book in a styled sofa or hand writing a letter in the antique "secretaire" desk. The beautiful 18m2 suite, with fire place and wonderfully plastered, is not enough for your relaxation? Then, throw yourself into the 17th century bath tube and rest in plenty lukewarm water.

    Highlights on History

At the beginning of the sixteenth century the conquest of South America was nearly complete, and the foundations of a new colonial civilization rose out of the ruins of the older Pre-Columbian empires.

The new art and architecture of Latin America was based on the Catholic religion, imported from Europe and has been of great significance in Ecuador ever since. This was a period of transition - from Spanish Gothic to Spanish Renaissance; further, many buildings were constructed in Plateresque style, which was developed in Spain at the beginning of the XVI century.

The fascinating historic centre of the city of Quito boasts numerous fine examples of colonial architecture, characterized by the simplicity of bare exterior walls that is offset by highly ornamental doorways and rich interior decoration. Many of its most important buildings date from the middle of the sixteenth century, upon the Spaniard foundation.
