¿Have you ever dreamt sleeping in a coconut?
At the Anahí Boutique Hotel we make your dream come truth, allowing you to enjoy this playful sensation of relaxing seaside environment, in a room where the materials of the furniture and ornamentation come from the coconut palm.
You will never forget your stay at this unique 20m2, king-size bedded suite, which represents a small part of the 2,237 km long Ecuadorian Pacific Ocean coast.
The northwest coast of Ecuador is home to descendants of the black slaves that the Spanish brought from Africa during their conquest of the country from the Incas. Around 1,120,000 people of ethnic African origin make up some 8% of the country's total population. Most live in the steamy lowlands of the northwest coast, where they make up the majority (70%) of the population in Esmeraldas Province, and in the Valle del Chota in Imbabura Province; many also live in Guayaquil, the largest city the country, and in Quito, the capital.
The most widely known aspect of Afro-Ecuadorian culture is the distinctive percussive music played on the marimba, a kind of xylophone entirely made from wood.
By its side, the coconut palm is the typical tree of the region, providing wood that is both strong and flexible for construction, further to the delicious fruit that food and beverage. The inhabitants of the coast also use it inside their houses to make furniture and decorations.
