Theme: Richness of Ecuador

Carefully enter into this 33m2 Suite as you would probably not like to wake up the close to 4000 years spirits sleeping within the beautiful and carefully worked ceramics present all over the place: in the heads of both Queen beds, night tables, decorations, lamps.

Each corner of this suite, where the floor of the bathroom is embroidered in ceramics, will show you some of the typical ceramic decoration used in the houses of the inhabitants of Cuenca even to this day. The sumptuous mosaics and other ceramic decorative elements are a living testament to the extraordinary skill of Cuenca's ceramists.

Higlights on Cuenca
Cuenca, in the south of Ecuador, is the third largest city in the country after Quito and Guayaquil. Since its founding in 1557, it has always been a place of immense cultural and economic importance. The Franciscan order held sway here and the city is richly endowed with numerous churches and monasteries.

Alongside its ecclesiastical prominence, Cuenca developed a flourishing ceramics industry, for which the city is still justifiably famous. For its charming historical center, the churches, the small cobbled streets and colonial houses with noble facades, prim balustrades, wrought iron balconies and red tiled roofs, it was declared as World Heritage Site by the UNESCO in 1999.

Furthermore, Cuenca is the center of the Panama Hat Industry. Other crafts include leather products, embroideries, baskets, gold jewelry, amongst others.
