Theme: Richness of Ecuador

Who has not dreamed, with irreverence of course, sitting or sleeping in a work of art? Actually is not so out-of-mind, since Utilitarian Art came out in the nineteenth century when pieces of fancy glass started to become significant objects of decorative art.

Our 18m2 colorful, warm and cheering Suite offers you a wide range of beautiful utilitarian objects going from decoration to strong furniture pieces with unique encrustations of glasswork inspired in the magical Ecuadorian subtropical forest, flora and fauna. The bathroom reproduces the intense and brilliant red found in the "cock of the rock" bird. Your King size bed is "covered" by enormous leaves that, at its turn, frames the intense coral colored "cockscomb" (heliconias) flowers.

This suite was worked by Artist Alexandra Moshenek, from Quito, specialized in pieces made from molten glass. In 1995 Alexandra graduated from the Metropolitan Institute of Design in Quito with a qualification in Graphic Design and Visual Arts. She also specialized on Design and Processing of Molten Glass.

Highlights on the Utilitarian Art

According with some experts, the phenomenon has its starting point in the German movement of the Bauhaus, which at the beginning of the 20th century integrated the art to the industrial design and whose philosophy is based on integrating all the arts with technology to obtain a design for any pocket.

One may also say that from Marcel Duchamp to date, the artist takes out art from any common object.
